The Author: Charel Cambré (b. 1968) knew from an early age that he wanted to be a cartoonist. As a child, he often doodled on beer coasters in his parents’ café, and he began his artistic career at the Art Humanities School in Lier. He then studied animation film at KASK in Ghent. Although he has also contributed to several Belgian productions, he primarily worked on foreign animated films. Later, he entered the comic book world and began the Streetkids series in 1993, which ran for ten years in the Suske en Wiske magazine. A few years later, Cambré started his own comic, Jump, which follows the strange adventures of three trendy friends. He later created a comic about the Pfaff family, provided scripts and illustrations for Studio 100, and was part of Studio Vandersteen. Today, he enjoys much success with series such as Amoras, a mature reinterpretation of Suske en Wiske, Robbedoes special, and Filip & Mathilde.
